Individual and Family Therapy with Nate Luongo, LCSW-C

Hi, I’m Nate! I’m a therapist in Bethesda, MD who works with adults and adolescents who are experiencing a depressed mood, having difficulty handling stress and looking to find new and healthy ways to better cope.
My Practice, The Calming Mind, also provides therapy to adults and families who are struggling with various issues that include anxiety, communication struggles, behavioral issues, substance use, and learning difference such as ADHD.

I’m a husband, father, and former collegiate athlete who has dedicated his life to helping people find their way through therapy. For years I have dedicated my time assisting young men and their loved ones in the growth process that is therapy. This has given me a front row seat to some truly spectacular life changes. Talking isn’t for everyone and I get that! I like to incorporate some non-traditional tools into therapy to make it easier for my clients to talk and express themselves.

I received my graduate degree from Columbia University where I specialized in the mental health treatment of adolescents, adults and their families. During my graduate training, I began to hone my therapy skills working with at risk teens and families.  Since the completion of my graduate degree, I have worked as a therapist, supervisor and clinical director in organizations who specialize in the treatment of adults, adolescents and families. I often utilize the skills that I learned in my advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), for my clients who are struggling with depression or anxiety. Some of the other common issues that I treat also include trauma, substance use, ADHD, and family/couples conflict. I have a passion for working with people who find themselves in a difficult place and assisting them through the healing process.
