THE CALMING MIND
Individual and Family Therapy with Nate Luongo, LCSW-C
I'm Nate. I specialize in the treatment of adolescent and young adult males who experience a depressed mood and who have difficulty handling stress.
My practice, The Calming Mind, also provides therapy to adults and families who are struggling with various issues that include excessive worry, communication struggles, behavioral issues, substance use, and learning differences.
I’m a husband, father, dog-dad, and former collegiate athlete who received the call to help at an early age. With some guidance and personal experience, I found myself doing the work that I love. Assisting people in the growth process through therapy has given me the front row seat to some pretty amazing life changes. Talking isn’t for everyone and I get that! I like to incorporate some non-traditional tools into therapy to make it easier for young people to talk and express themselves.
I received my undergraduate degree in social work from The Catholic University of America. This is where my experience in psychology and the helping profession took off. I completed my graduate training at Columbia University where I specialized in the clinical treatment of youth and families. During my graduate training, I provided individual and family therapy as well as parent support to families whose children were experiencing significant behavioral issues. Since completion of my graduate degree, I have worked as a therapist and administrator in organizations who specialize in the treatment of adolescents/young adults and families. Some of the common issues that I treat include anxiety, depression, substance use, learning differences, and family conflict. I have a passion working with young people who find themselves in a difficult place and assisting them through the healing process.
